Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt form of hyaluronic acid, a glycosaminoglycan found in the various connective tissue of humans. It has a smaller molecular weight than hyaluronic acid, meaning it can more easily penetrate the skin. Sodium hyaluronate and hyaluronic acid are both advantageous for the skin but the topically sodium hyaluronate absorbs more easily into the skin than hyaluronic acid due to its smaller molecular size.
